Statement by Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic of Cuba at the thirty first Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly in response to the Covid-19 pandemic

The call was announced on Wednesday during a political act on occasion of the 60th anniversary of the system of Party schools, attended by President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Cuba celebrates Wednesday the Day of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), and the 64th anniversary of the landing of the Granma yacht that started the guerrilla fight against Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship (1952-1959).

Cuban Foreign Minister denounced that President Donald Trump’s government is directly involved in financing and orienting actions of civil disobedience and illegal acts against public order in Cuba.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez will participate in a special session of the General Assembly in response to the COVID-19 at the level of Heads of State and Government, to be held will be held December 3 and 4.

The Revolution has always called on young people. In our visits to the provinces, we always have meetings with young people who have written a page of altruism in the confrontation of Covid-19, said the President, who appeared unexpectedly to support the youth meeting.

On the evening of Saturday, November 28, 2020, the Director General in charge of the United States at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, summoned the United States Chargé d’Affaires Timothy Zúñiga-Brown, to whom he conveyed that Cuba does not allow the United States, or any state, to interfere in the country’s internal affairs.

Díaz-Canel shared an article in his tweet from the daily newspaper Granma, where he defends the island’s right to independence and good relations, but never under the logic of threat, coercion or blackmail.
